As Catholics we believe in the dignity of work, and that every worker deserves a living wage. Unfortunately, too many of the cooks, cashiers and dishwashers in the US Senate Cafeteria are paid the minimum wage, and fewer than one in five of these workers can afford the expensive premiums required to access the health care plan offered by their employer.
The Senators can fix this. They need to direct Capitol administrators to take the steps necessary to secure fair wages and benefits for the Cafeteria workers. Please take a minute today to send your Senators a message saying you support just wages and affordable health care for Senate cafeteria employees.
